Palisades Fire is 52% contained and 23,713 acres have burned.
Cal Fire Morning Report Sunday January 19 2025:
Overnight, clear skies prevailed across the incident and humidity levels recovered.
Expect slightly warmer and drier conditions today.
Crews are working around the clock to build containment lines and support search and rescue efforts, while providing protection and assistance to the public as the repopulation process occurs.
An increased need for specialized supplies related to all-hazards response for responders and repopulating civilians, including masks, respirators, gloves, eye protection and decontamination, is present.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from Monday morning through Tuesday evening over much of Los Angeles, Ventura, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange, and San Diego Counties due to strong gusty offshore winds and low relative humidity.

Malibu Road Closures
Malibu Canyon is fully open.
The following roads are under soft closure, meaning they are open to residents with valid ID:
Topanga/Mulholland – Southbound
Old Topanga/Mulholland – Southbound
The following roads are under HARD closure, meaning all non-emergency vehicles are prohibited. All drivers should avoid these areas and follow detour signage:
Topanga – between Grand View & PCH
Saddlepeak/Tuna Canyon – Southbound
PCH/Sweetwater Canyon Drive – Eastbound
Stunt/Saddlepeak
Piuma/Woodbluffs – Southbound
Malibu Canyon/Seaver – Southbound
Malibu Canyon from PCH to Seaver (detour Civic Center Way)
Please note that all road closures are subject to change.
Do Not Drink Water Advisory Reminder
The eastern portion of the City of Malibu, up to and including Carbon Canyon and the community of Saddle Peak in Topanga, is still under a mandatory do not drink order from the Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 (LACWD) and the State Water Resources Control Board due to potential of fire-related contaminants in the water.
Please do not drink or cook with the tap water until further notice.
Water is available from 10:00am-6:00pm at 23533 West Civic Center Way in Malibu.

Malibu City Council, local and state representatives, utility service providers, Los Angeles County Fire Department, Los Angeles Sheriffs Department, CalFire, Department of Insurance and federal relief partners will be in attendance to answer your questions.

The City of Santa Monica Update Saturday January 18 2025
Santa Monica Evacuations Are Lifted
All evacuated residents may return to areas of Santa Monica north of San Vicente Boulevard. This area was previously under an Evacuation Warning.
There are no active curfews in place in Santa Monica.
A curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. does remain in areas of Los Angeles where an evacuation order or warning is still effective.
Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is now open for local access within the Santa Monica city limits, with access from Moomat Ahiko Way and the California Incline.
All businesses on the Santa Monica Pier and along PCH within the city of Santa Monica are now accessible and welcoming customers.
Access to PCH and the city of Los Angeles north of the city limits is being managed by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The I-10 Freeway remains closed past Lincoln Boulevard per California Highway Patrol until further notice.

Palisades Fire Notable History
Cal Fire Reports that Palisades Fire started at 10:30am in Pacific Palisades.
The Wild Fire started near 1190 North Piedra Morada Drive and was at 20 acres when LA Fire responded. Wind was at 25mph with gusts at 50mph.
At 11:30am the fire was estimated at 200 acres. At 8:30am on Wednesday January 8 2025 the Fire grew to over 5000 acres.
