Cal Fire Evening Report Saturday January 25 2025:
A cold front passed over the fire area mid-morning and will continue late Saturday into Monday, with periods of light showers.
There is a 25% chance of an isolated thunderstorm predicted for Sunday, bringing hail, lightning and wind gusts over the area.
Due to the potential for rain, the National Weather Service in Oxnard has issued a FLOOD WATCH over all burn scars in the area from 4:00PM Sunday to 4:00PM Monday.

Flood Watch Warning
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Palisades burn scar area beginning 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26 through 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27
Heavy rain over Franklin Fire and Palisades Fire burn scars can trigger debris flows, which can create hazardous conditions.
Residents in or near burn scar areas should monitor forecasts.
Be prepared and stay vigilant!

Pacific Coast Highway Update
Portions of PCH between Coastline Drive and Entrada Drive remain closed as the area is still under mandatory evacuation order.
Drivers should avoid these areas and follow detour signage.
PCH between Topanga Beach and Santa Monica remains closed due to the fire response and mandatory evacuation order that is in place.
Malibu residents should travel from the north, using Kanan Dune Road or Malibu Canyon Road to get into the City and check in at the Malibu Pier.
Avoid using Las Flores Canyon Road as traffic control points are in place with no access for residents.

Red Cross Financial Assistance
The American Red Cross is reaching out to wildfire survivors to discuss eligibility for financial aid.
If you received a message or call from the Red Cross, follow the instructions provided or visit redcross.org/gethelp.

Receiving Red Cross assistance doesn’t impact your FEMA eligibility.

Boys and Girls Club of Malibu Relief Fund
The BGCM Emergency Relief Fund is here to support those impacted by the Palisades Fire.
Assistance is available for victims who’ve experienced home loss, displacement or job loss.
Priority is given to families and individuals in greatest need.
Telecommunications Status Update
T-Mobile: Most sites are restored. Malibu Lake site remains down. Two cell on wheels services are available, located at Dukes (21150 Pacific Coast Hwy) and Malibu Bluffs Park. Two charging stations are available at Pavilions (29211 Heathercliff Rd.) and Malibu Bluffs Park.
AT&T: All major network facilities remain online with some running backup power. Mobility teams continue to dispatch where it is safe to do so; however, fire areas and evacuation zones will not be accessible until conditions improve.
Verizon: Generators on cell towers at Civic Center (23555 Civic Center Way) are supporting the Incident Command Center.
Spectrum: Internet service has been fully restored west of Carbon Beach Terrace. Personnel are working on restoring any remaining impacted areas
The City of Malibu Eastern Portion: Do Not Drink The Water
The Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 (LACWD) and the State Water Resources Control Board – Division of Drinking Water have issued a mandatory DO NOT DRINK ORDER for the eastern portion of the City of Malibu, up to and including Carbon Canyon and the community of Saddle Peak in Topanga due to potential fire-related contaminants that may have entered the water system.
Affected customers are urged not to drink or cook with the tap water until further notice.
Bottled water is available at 23533 West Civic Center Way in Malibu at 10:00am-6:00pm.

Food Safety Tips When Returning Home
Discard any food products that have been covered with ash.

Malibu Repopulation In Select Evacuation Areas
Repopulation is now allowed in select evacuation areas in Malibu for residents only.
Access to the checkpoint is located at the Malibu Pier.
Please use Malibu Canyon Road and its direction from PCH to get to the checkpoint.
Returning residents must present a photo ID showing their name, photo, and physical address.
Take Precautions
Properly wear respiratory protection (N-95 or P-100 masks) and protective clothing.

Avoid activities that can raise ashes.
Use bottled water in areas under “Don’t Drink” warning.
Be prepared for extended and potentially intermittent service outages.
Fire Debris Cannot Be Placed In Any Dumpster
Los Angeles County is working with the city on a debris removal plan.
Contact the Junk Removal Hotline at (844) 347-3332 (Monday-Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday 8am-6pm).
Universal Waste Systems will pick up large household items and electronics at no cost.
All household and food waste can be deposited in containers available.
UWS will sort the materials on its facilities.

Santa Monica Evacuations Are Lifted
All evacuated residents may return to areas of Santa Monica north of San Vicente Boulevard. This area was previously under an Evacuation Warning.
There are no active curfews in place in Santa Monica.
A curfew from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. does remain in areas of Los Angeles where an evacuation order or warning is still effective.
Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) is now open for local access within the Santa Monica city limits, with access from Moomat Ahiko Way and the California Incline.
All businesses on the Santa Monica Pier and along PCH within the city of Santa Monica are now accessible and welcoming customers.
Access to PCH and the city of Los Angeles north of the city limits is being managed by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The I-10 Freeway remains closed past Lincoln Boulevard per California Highway Patrol until further notice.

Palisades Fire Notable History
Cal Fire Reports that Palisades Fire started at 10:30am in Pacific Palisades.
The Wild Fire started near 1190 North Piedra Morada Drive and was at 20 acres when LA Fire responded. Wind was at 25mph with gusts at 50mph.
At 11:30am the fire was estimated at 200 acres. At 8:30am on Wednesday January 8 2025 the Fire grew to over 5000 acres.
