RESIDENT ACCESS
Curfew is now lifted.
The Residents-Only access pass requires one-time check-in location: Lot 3 Beach Access, 1150 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica, CA 90403.
The pass is then valid for the remaining period until the restriction is lifted.

PCH Access Updates
Access along PCH in the fire-affected areas will be limited to verified residents affected by the fire and essential contractors on a case-by-case basis.
You must have a pass to enter.
Malibu Resident Passes (Including Unincorporated LA County):

Malibu Contractors (Including Unincorporated LA County):
Lost Hills Sheriff Station (27050 Agoura Road, Calabasas), from 10:00am-5:00pm

Residents need to provide valid ID or proof of residency and contractors/essential personnel need to provide valid ID and bring documentation showing that they are serving a resident in the affected areas.
LASD will verify the information with the resident.
FEMA Disaster Assistance Application Due March 10 2025
If you’ve been impacted by the #PalisadesFire, FEMA disaster assistance applications are due March 10. Apply here: DisasterAssistance.gov
Malibu residents can also now visit a FEMA Mobile Registration Intake Center at the Malibu Library (23519 West Civic Center Way) from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, or from 11 a.m. to 5 pm on Friday, for on-site assistance with the application process.
This support includes:
An overview of FEMA disaster assistance
Review of assistance applications
Information about application status, other eligible assistance, reimbursements and temporary shelter placements
Collecting new information or documents for case files

Palisades Fire Debris Removal Update – Phases 1 & 2 Tuesday January 28 2025
Phase 1 of the #PalisadesFire debris removal process is underway!
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is currently performing fire debris assessments and household hazardous waste removal activities in Malibu.
Property owners cannot proceed with cleaning or removing fire debris (Phase II) until this step is completed.

Residents can now choose to opt-in or opt-out of Phase 2 of the debris removal program, which will allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to access properties to complete the cleanup.
Residents interested in opting into the program must complete a Right of Entry (ROE) form by a March 31 deadline.

Residents may also opt out and manage Phase 2 cleanup independently.

Note: This is a free program, but it’s important to review any insurance considerations.

Small Business Grants For Businesses Affected By Palisades Fire
The Small Business Relief Fund grant is organized by the U.S. and Los Angeles Chambers of Commerce to support community businesses through the recovery period.
The Chambers of Commerce will award up to $25,000 to businesses and $2,000 to employees through this grant.

Los Angeles County Beaches Ocean Water Quality Rain Advisory Through Thursday January 30 2025 at 8:00am
Due to recent rainfall, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (@LAPublicHealth) advises beach users to avoid all water contact due to potentially higher bacteria levels and public health hazards in these areas.
Individuals who enter the water could become ill.
This includes any runoff that may flow onto the beach sand.
Once the rain advisory is lifted, the ocean water advisory for Surfrider Beach to Dockweiler State Beach at World Way will remain due to fire debris runoff, which may contain substances including arsenic, other metals and asbestos, which can be harmful to health.

Malibu City Council Meeting Monday January 27 2025 on YouTube
Council considers key actions to support recovery efforts, such as amendments to the Local Coastal Program (LCP) and Municipal Code and the formation of a Palisades Fire Ad Hoc Committee.
The proposed changes aim to simplify the LCP and expedite the rebuilding process of structures damaged or destroyed by the Palisades Fire, as well as prior fires, including the Broad Fire and Franklin Fire.

Discussion Items: Rebuilding and Recovery efforts following the #PalisadesFire.
At the meeting, residents received an update on ongoing operations and the next steps toward recovery and rebuilding.
Attendees were able to ask questions and voice their concerns to elected officials and Federal, State and County partner agencies.

Red Cross Financial Assistance
The American Red Cross is reaching out to wildfire survivors to discuss eligibility for financial aid.
If you received a message or call from the Red Cross, follow the instructions provided or visit redcross.org/gethelp.
Be cautious of scams! Legitimate invitations will come via email or text based on your contact info with the Red Cross.
If in doubt, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-733-2767).
Receiving Red Cross assistance doesn’t impact your FEMA eligibility.

Boys and Girls Club of Malibu Relief Fund
The BGCM Emergency Relief Fund is here to support those impacted by the Palisades Fire.
Assistance is available for victims who’ve experienced home loss, displacement or job loss.
Priority is given to families and individuals in greatest need.
The City of Malibu Eastern Portion: Do Not Drink The Water
The Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 (LACWD) and the State Water Resources Control Board – Division of Drinking Water have issued a mandatory DO NOT DRINK ORDER for the eastern portion of the City of Malibu, up to and including Carbon Canyon and the community of Saddle Peak in Topanga due to potential fire-related contaminants that may have entered the water system.
Affected customers are urged not to drink or cook with the tap water until further notice.
Bottled water is available at 23533 West Civic Center Way in Malibu at 10:00am-6:00pm.

Food Safety Tips When Returning Home
Discard any food products that have been covered with ash.
Items stored in sealed glass or metal cans or jars should be safe for use.
Clean before opening.
Malibu Repopulation In Select Evacuation Areas
Repopulation is now allowed in select evacuation areas in Malibu for residents only.
Access to the checkpoint is located at the Malibu Pier.
Please use Malibu Canyon Road and its direction from PCH to get to the checkpoint.
Returning residents must present a photo ID showing their name, photo, and physical address.
Take Precautions
Properly wear respiratory protection (N-95 or P-100 masks) and protective clothing.
Stay away from damaged or downed power lines and poles. Call Southern California Edison: 1-800-611-1911.
Avoid activities that can raise ashes.
Use bottled water in areas under “Don’t Drink” warning.
Be prepared for extended and potentially intermittent service outages.
Fire Debris Cannot Be Placed In Any Dumpster
Los Angeles County is working with the city on a debris removal plan.
Contact the Junk Removal Hotline at (844) 347-3332 (Monday-Friday 7am-7pm and Saturday 8am-6pm).
Universal Waste Systems will pick up large household items and electronics at no cost.
All household and food waste can be deposited in containers available.
UWS will sort the materials on its facilities.
Call UWS at 800-631-7016 (Monday-Friday 7am-5pm and Saturday 7am-12pm).
