The Laguna Beach Full Moon Drum Circle at Aliso Creek County Beach Park is scheduled for Today Tuesday September 9 2014.
The Laguna Beach Drum Circle is a monthly event that encourages musicians, dancers, singers to come together under the full moon at the ocean.
The gathering is from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Aliso Creek County Beach is located in South Laguna at 31131 Coast Hwy. There is metered parking in the adjacent lot. There is another parking lot across the street and a underground pedestrian tunnel.

The Laguna Beach Arts Commission Meets today, Monday September 8 2014 at 5:30 pm. The Commission meets at the Laguna Beach City Council Chambers located at 505 Forest Avenue.

The scheduled Agenda items include the following:

Art-in-Public Places – 376 Cliff Drive – Discuss and approve the installation of “Turtle Gate” by Jorg Dubin to satisfy the Art in Public Places requirement. (Auster)

Mural Installation – 1810 Ocean Way – Discuss and review an existing unpermitted mural by Carolee Merrill on a private residence that requires Arts Commission approval.

Ocean Avenue and Beach Street Public Art Project – Review, discuss and approve revisions to the project proposed by Shin Gray Studios.

The 30th Annual ToshibaTall Ships Festival in Dana Point kicks off today, Friday September 5 2014 with the Sunset Parade.

Check in Time is from 1:30 thru 3:00 pm. Boarding Time is 4:00 pm.
Note for the landlubbers…
For those of you who can’t make it out to sea, you may view the parade from shore from the breakwater behind the Ocean Institute. We can’t guarantee what time the ships will pass by, but it’s safe to arrive around 5:30 p.m. Don’t forget you camera!

Laguna Beach Urban Planning Coordinating Committee Meets This Morning at 8:00am

The Laguna Beach Urban Planning Coordinating Committee meets this morning, Friday September 5 2014 at 8:00am. The Committee meets at the Community Room at the Susi Q Community Center
located at 380 Third Street.
The City Manager has formed the Urban Planning Coordinating Committee for the purpose of meeting with City staff consultants, and representatives from the Planning Commission and the City Council who are working on various urban planning project. These projects presently include the Downtown Specific Plan update, Public Transit Analysis, Off-season trolley program, Laguna Canyon Road Corridor Improvement Assessment, preparation of a Mobility Complete Streets Transition Plan, the Village Entrance Project, implementation of the Parking Management Plan, and an update of the Landscape and Scenic Highways document. The Committee will help the City Manager manage and coordinate these efforts while also providing an opportunity for those working on the projects to benefit from a shared understanding of the work that is being done. This coordinated effort should also improve the dissemination of public information regarding the projects and future public input opportunities. Public attendance and observation is encouraged.

OCSD and OCLG are searching Salt Creek Beach this morning for the Missing Swimmer

Orange County Sheriff’s Department and Orange County LifeGuards join together in a recovery mission this morning, Wednesday September 3 2014 at Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point. On August 24 2014 a 60 year old man visiting from out of state went missing in the ocean off Salt Creek Beach. A massive multi agency effort was immediately undertaken to rescue him. Shortly thereafter the same efforts went into a recovery effort. This morning The Orange County Sheriff Department and the Orange County LifeGuards are working together in their recovery efforts.
