Most of the information is from official government and scientific documents.”
Today you can meet with officials from Southern California Edison and engage them with your concerns about long term nuclear storage.

Southern California Edison Hosting San Onofre Decommissioning Education Fair in San Juan Capistrano Today from 4:00pm to 7:00pm
Southern California Edison Press Release:
ROSEMEAD, Calif., Sept. 23, 2014 — Southern California Edison (SCE) invites the public to attend a San Onofre decommissioning education fair on Monday in San Juan Capistrano.
San Onofre’s key leaders will be on hand to answer questions about SCE’s plan to decommission San Onofre within 20 years and safely manage the plant’s used nuclear fuel. The fair will be from 4-7 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center, 25925 Camino del Avion.
“The education fair is just one part of Southern California Edison’s comprehensive effort to inform and engage Californians every step of the way as we decommission San Onofre,” said Chris Thompson, SCE’s vice president of Decommissioning.
Thompson shares a wide range of decommissioning information in a recent interview sponsored by the Association of California Cities-Orange County as part of the Cox OC Civic Connection series. The interview also airs on Cox3 Cable On Demand (Channel 2636).
SCE and the other owners of San Onofre have established an 18-member Community Engagement Panel to advise the owners on the nuclear plant’s decommissioning. Documents reviewed by the CEP are available on the San Onofre website, along with videotapes of the panel’s meetings. Members of the public also may sign up here to receive regular email updates about the $4.4 billion decommissioning project.
SCE announced June 7, 2013 that it would retire San Onofre Units 2 and 3, and begin preparations to decommission the facility. SCE has established core principles of safety, stewardship and engagement to guide decommissioning. For more information about SCE, visit http://www.songscommunity.com.
