The Laguna Beach High School Winter Dance Concert is Limitless.

“You are confined only by the walls you build yourself.”

Our Winter Dance Concert is a collection of pieces that explore the idea of limits.

Where did our limits come from? Why are these limits in place? How do these limits define who we are?

The concert itself is designed with a variety of pieces, ranging in genres and music styles, to provide the audience with a versatile viewing experience and to bring greater awareness to the endless possibilities within the field of dance.

Guest choreographers include Michael Perez, Erika Fernandez, and Ballet Zaida Affinity, Nicole Voris.

Faculty choreographers, Samantha Hampton and Estee Carrizosa, also present pieces along with student choreographers from Dance III and the LBHS Dance Company.

The concert is approximately an hour and a half and showcases the work of our intermediate/advanced students.

The LBHS Dance Department is partnered with the South Coast Regional Occupation Program.

All of their courses are based on a comprehensive, yearlong dance curriculum, and all of the students are required to participate in the annual Spring Dance Concert.

Each course provides knowledge and experience in a broad range of styles including, but not limited to: Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Modern, Musical Theater, and Social/Cultural forms.

Based on the level of study, there are also assignments and activities related to critically analyzing dance, learning about the history of dance, practicing improvisation skills, composing or choreographing original works, understanding anatomy from a dancer’s perspective, managing dance productions, and pursuing dance as a college or career pathway.

There are also opportunities for students to audition for professional guest choreographers.
