As of Monday, the Aliso Fire near Laguna Beach is 55% contained at a size of 150 acres. All fire evacuations were lifted Sunday evening and displaced Laguna Beach residents were able to return to their homes.
There are no remaining road closures associated with the fire.
Top of the World Elementary School will reopen Tuesday, June 5th.

“I commend the quick actions taken by Laguna Beach Firefighters to safeguard our residents during the Aliso Fire,” said Laguna Beach Fire Chief Mike Garcia.
“With our Fire Department’s deep knowledge of the drainage patterns, canyon topography and wind behaviors in the fire area we quickly identified homes that could be in the path of fire and took immediate action to get those residents out.”

Fire crews continue to secure containment lines and patrol underbrush for hidden areas of fire.
Heavy mop up of the burn area will continue to ensure there are no flare-ups, and fire suppression repair work in the fire area is also being done.
There are currently 525 firefighters still assigned to the fire and is being run under Unified Command with the Orange County Fire Authority and Orange County Parks.
85 engines, two helicopters, four bulldozers and nine hand crews are currently responding to the fire.

“The response to the Aliso Fire was a well-coordinated partnership between the Laguna Beach Fire Department, Orange County Fire Authority, CalFire, many assisting local municipalities and all Laguna Beach City Departments,” Garcia said.
“I want to especially thank the Laguna Beach Police Department for helping evacuate people to safety, and also thank our affected residents who remained calm and refused to panic.”

The Laguna Beach Fire Department responded to the Aliso Fire just after 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2ndin Aliso Woods Canyon.
As a precautionary measure, the Laguna Beach Fire Department ordered approximately 1500 Laguna Beach residents in the Top of the World and Old Top of the World areas to evacuate to safety because their homes were in danger.
The City set up a temporary shelter for displaced residents at the Susi Q Community Center in Laguna Beach, where some residents stayed overnight Saturday.
All evacuation orders for residents were lifted as of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday and families were permitted to return to their homes.

“The City sincerely wants to thank all of the residents who evacuated their homes for their cooperation during the Aliso Fire emergency,” said Laguna Beach City Manager John Pietig.
“As one of the residents evacuated this weekend, I know it is not easy to pick up and leave your home at a moment’s notice, not knowing when you’ll be able to return.
We want to thank everyone who evacuated for their diligence and patience.”

Laguna Beach City Administrators closely monitored the fire situation from the City’s Emergency Operations Center and were in constant communication with Laguna Beach Fire authorities all weekend.
At its peak, the fire grew to 250 acres in size.

Top of the World Elementary will reopen for classes Tuesday June 5 2018.

Laguna Beach Aliso Fire currently has over 500 personnel actively engaged in containing the 150 acre vegetation fire that started at 1:07pm on Saturday June 2 2018 at
Aliso Woods Canyon Trial.

Firefighting crews continued to work through the night, Sunday June 4 2018.
Fire Fighters continue to build and improve containment lines.
Containment is currently at 55%.
Over 500 personnel will continue to patrol the area and extinguish hot spots till there is full containment.

All Laguna Beach Aliso Fire Evacuations were lifted at 6:00pm Sunday June 3 2018.
All Laguna Beach Evacuated Residents were allowed to return home.
The Laguna Beach Care and Reception Evacuation Center at Susi Q Community Center closed at 6:00pm Sunday June 3 2018.

Classes are canceled at Top of the World Elementary Monday June 4 2018.
All other campuses will be open as usual.
The Boys and Girls club located on Laguna Canyon will be open Monday June 4 2018 at 8:00am and will provide childcare for families in need.

There was (3) injuries and no structures were threatened in the Aliso Fire.

Fire investigators are asking for the public’s assistance if they have any information to help identify the cause of the Aliso Fire.

The Public is reminded to remain vigilant and monitor changes in the weather and fire conditions.
Please drive slowly as emergency crews and equipment are working throughout the fire area.
