Daylight Savings Time beings Sunday November 4 2018.
Remember to turn your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday November 3 2018.
Local Fire Departments highly recommend that your take this time to remember to inspect your smoke alarms.
The City of Laguna Beach is reminding all residents to have smoke alarms that not only function properly but are installed in correct locations.
Half of home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. when most people are asleep.
The Laguna Beach Fire Department offers the following tips to make sure smoke alarms are maintained and working properly.
1) Test smoke alarms at least once a month using the test button ensuring everyone in your home recognizes the sound and knows two evacuation routes out of each room.
2) If a smoke alarm “chirps”, indicating a low battery, replace the battery immediately.
3) Replace smoke alarms if they do not respond properly when tested.
4) Never remove or disable a working smoke alarm.
The Laguna Beach Fire Department offers free batteries, installation and smoke alarms for residents of Laguna Beach.
These items are intended for property owners of residential properties; not apartment and/or income properties.

A representative from the Fire Department will contact you and schedule an appointment to determine how many detectors are needed and install them for you.
Please remember, this program is not intended to install detectors in each room, only to provide one on each floor.
