San Clemente Recycled Water Expansion Ribbon Cutting Today at 10:00am
The City of San Clemente’s recycled water expansion facility project is complete and the community is invited to attend a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, September 18, 2014. The ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the City’s water treatment facility located at 380 East Avenida Pico.
This project represents one of the biggest public works projects in the City’s history. The project cost a total of $25.1 million from multiple funding sources, including $6 million in grant funding, and is intended to more than double the amount of recycled water produced at the plant. Prior to completion, the treatment plant produced up to 2.2 million gallons of recycled water per day and now the City will more than double capacity to 5 million gallons per day. The recycled water is a byproduct of raw sewage though as a result of the filtration process recycling water is produced, rendering it safe for irrigating golf courses, homeowners associations’ greenbelts, medians and City parks.
“The completion of this project could not have been timelier considering the state’s severe drought that is affecting all of us,” said Mayor Tim Brown. “We will be able to reduce San Clemente’s reliance on imported water as this will make up 8 percent of the City’s total water supply going forward”.

Telsa Test Drive in a Neighborhood Near You!
Telsa Motor corps has been offering test drives across the United States outside of their store space this summer. I participated in the San Clemente Talega Test Drive Today. I have owned a Nissan all electric Leaf for three years. The Telsa is sleek and ultra modern. The car has the highest range of all electric vehicles. When you lift your foot off the accelerator the car is recharging. In the Nissan Leaf your vehicle is recharging when you apply the brakes. So this improvement is great to add to your battery range. The Telsa has a IPad large Media center. Also the Telsa has a rear and a front compartment area.
The car handles great and there is only one drive position. If you need the range, Telsa is the premier electric vehicle.
If you are planning on doing a neighborhood test drive, Telsa Motors supplies the following information on their website:
“Model S is the world’s first premium electric sedan and sets the standard for 21st century performance. Designed from the ground up as an electric vehicle, Model S provides unprecedented range and a thrilling drive experience.
Appointments will be confirmed by a Tesla representative. Test drive appointments are available to prospective customers.
Your driving session will be 15 minutes long over a predetermined route designed to highlight the capabilities of Model S.
A Tesla Product Specialist will accompany all drives to ensure you optimize your time in Model S.”
Locally you can test drive a Telsa at the Shops at Mission Viejo.
